A fee schedule links a fee schedule template to a specific savings or loan account. When a fee schedule is active, fees are calculated and applied automatically whenever the client performs a qualifying transaction.
Fee schedules are displayed on the Fee Schedules tab on the savings or loan account detail view in Symba Microbanking. The tab shows all schedules linked to the account, along with their active date range and current status.
A fee schedule template must already exist in Symba Payments before you can link it to an account. See Fee schedule templates.
Only one fee schedule of each type can be active on an account at any given time. For example, a savings charges schedule and an agent commissions schedule can coexist on the same account, but two savings charges schedules cannot overlap. If an existing schedule of the same type would overlap with the new one, a warning is shown before saving.
When creating a savings account, you can assign a fee schedule template directly in the account creation form. This creates a fee schedule linked to the new account as soon as the account is saved.
A fee schedule can be disabled without deleting it. When disabled, the fee schedule is not applied to transactions even if the date range is active. To disable a schedule, open it from the Fee Schedules tab and toggle the enabled status.
When a client performs a transaction that triggers a fee, the fee amount is shown before the transaction is confirmed:
On USSD, clients can transfer money from their savings account to a person, a paybill number, or a till number via mobile money. These transfers are processed as withdrawals from the savings account, so any active fee schedule with a withdrawal rule matching the mobile money payment method will apply. The calculated fee is shown to the client before they confirm the transfer.
Transfers between accounts within the same organization (for example, from one client's savings account to another) are processed as internal account transfers and do not trigger fee calculation.
